The University of Hawaii at Hilo men’s basketball team lost to Chaminade 94-89 in a Pacific West Conference game Thursday night on Oahu.

Joey Rodriguez scored 21 points on 6 of 12 shooting to lead the Vulcans (4-3, 0-1 PacWest). Tre Johnson and Vndyon Lockett added 19 points each.

James Harper scored 23 points to lead five Silverswords in double figures.

Chaminade (3-3, 1-0) outshot UHH, 57 percent to 42 percent on field goals.

The Silverswords held their biggest lead, 62-43, with 14:39 left in the game, after an 11-2 scoring spurt.

UHH women

Hayley Reynolds hit 1 of 2 free throws with two seconds left to break a 59-all tie to lift the UHH over Chaminade 60-59 on Thursday at McCabe Gym on Oahu.

Kirstie Williams led the Vulcans (2-3, 1-0) with 16 points. She hit 5 of 13 field goals, including 4 of 11 from 3-point range.

Kristle Henry had 14 points to lead the Silverswords (0-5, 0-1).

UHH shot 32 percent from the field and led 23-20 at halftime, and 56-48 with 3:37 remaining in the game.

Reynolds added 13 points and made 5 of 12 field goals. McKenzie Mangino had 12 points and four asssits with no turnovers. Point guard Jordan Kealoha had five assists and one turnover, and scored four points on 1 of 9 shooting.
